
THE COOPAD SAVINGS AND CREDIT COOPERATIVE has its origin in the Social Cultural and Sports Club “Amistad” of the Army Data Processing Department, who on October 28, 1986 appointed a commission that is responsible for preparing the operating regulations as Pre cooperative.
On April 9, 1987, the Constitutive Assembly of the Previsión Ahorro y Desarrollo Savings and Credit Cooperative "PAD" was held, where the Provisional Board was elected to manage the legal status; which was made up of gentlemen: Econ. Raúl Estévez – President, Atty. Ramiro Silva – First Member, Don. Germán Miranda – Second Vocal, Don. Ricardo Andrade – Third Member, Tnlgo. Luis A. Escobar Q. – Secretary and Don. Carlos Briceño – Treasurer. Through Ministerial Agreement No. 02238, the Ministry of Social Welfare grants the legal status of COOPAD, on October 28, 1991 and legally registered in the General Registry of Cooperatives with Order number 5161 of October 30, 1991.
Due to the financial growth that the Cooperative had, its directors decided to join the control of the Superintendency of Banks and Insurance, so the respective procedures were carried out and under Resolution No. SB- INSEF- 2000-0804, the control body qualified to the Cooperative as a private financial institution to carry out financial intermediation activities with the general public, and must comply with the regulations contained in the General Law of Institutions of the System Financial, and since 2013 it is controlled by the Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy.
